Incorporated in 2001, Altrusa Foundation of Gig Harbor is affiliated with Altrusa Club of Gig Harbor, and is a subsidiary foundation of the Altrusa International Foundation. It is incorporated in the State of Washington and is recognized as a 501(c)3 non-profit by the IRS. All gifts and donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible.
In its short life, Altrusa Foundation has taken on some major projects, all of which benefit the local Gig Harbor community, including:

Raised $100,000 in a ten-year period to equip the Commercial Kitchen for the Boys & Girls Club of Gig Harbor.

Provide an annual grant of $2,000 in scholarship funding for the Peninsula Youth Orchestra.

Contributed thousands of dollars’ worth of school supplies and basic clothing to children in need in Peninsula schools.

Since the first Empty Bowls event in 2016, Altrusa has raised over $139,000 in support of efforts to combat hunger in our community. Those funds have been distributed by Altrusa of Gig Harbor Foundation to local programs such as the Boys & Girls Club, The Red Barn Youth Center, Harbor Hope Center, FISH Food Bank, Key Peninsula Community Services and Food Backpacks 4 Kids. These programs feed many children and families in our community.
